Children do not need to be taught how to “know” God; they are naturally intuitive about their relationship with God. Our mission at Pullen is to foster an understanding of that relationship and offer ways to explore and deepen that relationship.
The children’s programs at Pullen are designed to offer opportunities for children to experience and learn about God. The curriculum for Sunday Groups incorporates stories from the Bible and contemporary sources that focus on people’s relationships with God. In Children’s Worship, children are offered the opportunity to “come close to God” in a worship setting (with a few tweaks that accommodate more wiggles and giggles). In our Wednesday night programs, children learn ways that they can be leaders in the church through the music ministry and through participation in church mission projects. They even learn how they can impact their community and the world and how that is connected to their relationship with God.
All children’s programming takes place on the first floor of the building. Greeters and staff members are available to help you find the appropriate classrooms.

9:30-10:30 AM, September through May
Sunday Groups are a time of learning where children connect with each other and adults and practice ways to strengthen their relationship with God. Emphasis is on teaching children to express their own feelings about biblical stories and themes through a variety of individual and group activities.
Nursery and Toddlers
Childcare is provided for our youngest children during the Sunday Groups hour. Volunteers and childcare staff provide a consistent, loving presence for each child, exemplifying the nurturing, loving nature of God.
All these children are invited to remain in their room during the 11:00 AM worship hour.
L.E.A.P. (Learning and Exploring At Pullen)
L.E.A.P. is an innovative program that engages preschool and elementary-age children with lessons using various learning approaches/styles. All classes in this program study the same biblical story or theme for three to five weeks.
This model offers many benefits for the children. Several weeks are spent learning and internalizing biblical stories and concepts. It ensures exposure to key biblical stories for children who aren’t able to attend every Sunday. The various activities—utilizing multiple learning styles—make it fun and appealing to many different children, while engaging all five senses and the total spirit of the child.
Two through Five-year-olds
The preschool class meets in the same classroom each week with the same volunteers leading their activities. Each week they hear the story and then participate in activities such as music, art, and games.
Children are invited to remain in this classroom during the 11:00 AM worship hour.
Kindergarten through Fifth Grade
Kindergarten, First and Second Grade
Third, Fourth & Fifth Grade
Kindergarten through fifth grade children experience the story or theme each Sunday through a different focused activity or “workshop.” Workshops include drama, storytelling, cooking, art, music, and games (the creative possibilities are endless).
Children should be picked up by their parent or supervising adult from their classrooms after Sunday Groups to attend worship.
5:45-7:30 PM, September through May
Nursery through Three-year-olds
Childcare: Experienced staff provide a safe, fun environment for children to engage in creative play.
Four-year-olds through First Grade
Music Discovery: In this age-appropriate, comfortable environment, young children participate in music activities while learning that music-making is an enjoyable and meaningful part of church life.
Activity and Playtime: Each week the children engage in a quiet time of play with their friends. Paid staff provide supervision for the children during this time.
Second through Fifth Grade
Children’s Choir: Children in this choir experience a variety of music-making activities and also learn to offer music for worship and other events in the life of the church.
Micah Kids: Micah Kids focuses on how children can live out the message of Micah 6:8 (printed on the front of brochure). Activities are designed to help each child deepen their relationship with God and understand how they can make a difference in their family, community, and world—right now.
AMK (After Micah Kids): After Micah Kids will be a time of free play. Activities will include playground time or self-directed activities such as board games, art, or reading.
All children are invited to attend worship with their families. Childcare and special programs are available for children second grade and younger.
Nursery through Preschool
Childcare during worship is provided by a combination of volunteers and paid staff. Children have free play during this time and, if the weather is nice, may go outside to the church playground. (Refer to the Sunday school section for information about location of groups.)
Kindergarten, first, and second grade children are invited to “follow the light” from the main worship service to a special children’s worship experience. Children’s worship uses a curriculum that allows children to experience God through play. Lessons incorporate worship elements, Bible stories, and “work time” for the children to find their own quiet place within and to reflect on their worship experience.
Children’s worship is held in Room 126. Parents should pick children up in this room after the worship service.

On Memorial Day weekend the children’s programs shift into a summer schedule. Regular Wednesday night programs and Children’s Worship go on hiatus until September.
